HEALTH & SAFETY & MEDICAL CONDITIONS
THE DANCE ACADEMY takes health and safety very seriously and enforces a strict health and safety policy to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of its students is paramount. THE DANCE ACADEMY has public liability insurance. In an effort to ensure safe dance practice, it is vital that all students follow the instructions of the teachers in order to reduce the risk of injury. Due to the technique of dancing, there may be contact with the students to help with the placing and avoid injury. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you consent to contact with students being made in order to help with placing and avoid injury. Students must undertake to participate in the activity at their own risk.
It is important that THE DANCE ACADEMY is notified of any medical conditions, injuries, allergies and prescribed medication applicable to each student and kept up-to-date of any medical conditions, injuries and health matters as they arise. Each student or parent of any students under the age of 18 should notify the teacher of any new medical conditions or injuries before commencing a class. Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water with them to class to ensure that they are kept hydrated. Consumption of food during class is not permitted.
As well as being a fun hobby dance is also a discipline. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is the world’s renowned governing body for dance, which THE DANCE ACADEMY takes great pride in being part of. It is part of the ISTD rules and regulations that students wear the correct uniform. This is also for the health and safety protection of students and to ensure the teacher can see that the movements are being performed correctly and avoid risk of injury. Each student is required to adhere to THE DANCE ACADEMY UNIFORM GUIDELINES. If a student fails to adhere to the Uniform Guidelines or refuses to comply with a teachers’ request with regard to uniform the student may be asked to stop participation in the class if there is considered to be a health and safety risk to them and/or other participants.
STUDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18
